historicism philosophy
space – is that something that exist, just an area to fill in, or something that we make, create
artworks to look at:
Jeremy Deller Baghdad car
What is this? – a car damaged in the bombing of the historic Mutanabbi Street book market, which resulted in the deaths of 38 people.
The piece is provoking, it leads to the question – is this an art?
Rather than to be created by an artist hands ‘Baghdad car’ is Deller’s personal manifest against the war.
Whats it’s message? – this is what war does, shows the impact of war on the people.
Richard Serra ‘Tilted Arc’ as an example of Public Art
